Schaumburg District 54 to host anti-bullying forum Oct. 9

Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54 will host a presentation for adults in the community about the negative effects of bullying and what can be done as a community to create a culture of kindness and respect.

All District 54 parents and community members are invited to attend the free presentation at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the District 54 Professional Learning Center, 522 E. Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg.

Stand for the Silent's Kirk Smalley, who was featured in the film "Bully," will speak about the negative effects of bullying and talk about how his son committed suicide after being bullied.

Smalley also will be speaking at all District 54 junior high schools and to Lincoln Prairie middle level students in October, which is National Bullying Prevention Month.
