Gateway hosting 5K to help families get naloxone

The Gateway Foundation in Lake Villa is helping equip more Lake County families with lifesaving medication by hosting the "One Stride at a Time" 5K on Saturday, Oct. 13, at Hastings Lake, 21155 W. Gelden Road in Lake Villa.

Proceeds will support Gateway's Naloxone Distribution Program and the Lake County Opioid Initiative.

The adult 5K run will kickoff at 8:30 a.m., and the youth 1K run will start at 9:30 a.m.

Since 2014, Naloxone has reversed more than 200 potentially fatal overdoses in Lake County. The Gateway Foundation is the country's largest, nonprofit treatment provider specializing in substance use disorder treatment of men, women, adolescents, and clients diagnosed with co-occurring mental health disorders.
