Prospect Heights street resurfacing work starts

A nearly $1.5 million project to resurface 11 Prospect Heights streets begins this week, city officials say.

The work generally will start on the northwest side of the city and progress in a southeast direction. Most of the work will be completed in two weeks for each street, but final restoration and striping could take longer. All the work will be done this fall, according to the city.

The work consists of milling the asphalt pavement, street patching, asphalt leveling, aggregate shoulder installation, sod restoration and striping. Hours for construction are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday

The resurfacing is part of the city's 2018 Road Program. City council members last month approved a bid of about $1.46 million from Builders Paving LLC to perform the work. It was the lowest of six bids and about $100,000 less than estimated, according to city documents.

Streets included in the work are Etowah Avenue from Minnaqua Drive to Willow Road; Tomah Avenue from cul-de-sac to Willow Road; Nawata Place from cul-de-sac to Etowah Avenue; Minnaqua Drive from Tomah Avenue to Schoenbeck Road; East Circle Avenue from Olive Avenue to Willow Road; Maple Lane from Camp McDonald Road to Marberry Drive; Hillside Avenue from Elmhurst Road to Willow Road; Olive Avenue from Prospect Drive to Elm Street; Edward Road from Wolf Road to dead end.; Edward cul-de-sac from Edward Road to dead end; and Rob Roy Lane from Camp McDonald Road to Country Club Drive.
