Campaign starting for Arlington Heights village board seats

A one-time candidate for Arlington Heights village board says he'll make another run next year, marking the start of the local campaign season.

Tom Schwingbeck Jr. announced this week he is running in the April 2 municipal election, for which candidates could start circulating nominating petitions Tuesday.

Schwingbeck, 60, has served on the village's zoning board of appeals since 2015, being appointed by Mayor Tom Hayes and confirmed by the village board after finishing last in a six-way race for four spots on the board.

A 30-year resident of Arlington Heights, Schwingbeck runs his own business, RNM and Associates, which provides services to forging and casting companies in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. He's also an assistant Scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop 32 in Arlington Heights.

He said he's familiar with the issues facing the village from his time on the zoning board and attending village board meetings.

"We have an outstanding and capable village board and I am confident that my engineering and management background and experience will enhance those capabilities," he said.

Four seats - each for a 4-year term - will be up for election.
