Palatine police announce traffic campaign results

Palatine police Monday announced results from a traffic safety campaign that included Labor Day weekend.

Authorities said patrols were increased from Aug. 20 through Sept. 4, in an effort to keep impaired drivers off the road. Police said five driving under the influence arrests were made during the safety campaign, and 64 seat belt citations were issued.

There also were 40 illegal use of a cellular phone while driving citations and three arrests on suspected illegal drug possession charges.
