Wings and Wheels touches down in St. Charles

The atmosphere - and the air - around the Fox Valley Aero Club was abuzz with excitement Saturday, during the 13th annual Wings and Wheels Festival of Flight air and car show.

The show in St. Charles featured model airplanes and Ford Model-T cars.

The cars came from the Midwest chapter of the Model T Ford Club. Radio-controlled model airplanes were also on display, on the ground and in the air.

There was to be an early-morning patrol of model World War I biplanes, World War II fighters and stunt planes. At noon, there was to be a dogfight between cartoon character Snoopy (who flew a Sopwith Camel in his imagination) and his nemesis, the Red Baron.

The Fox Valley Aero Club is devoted to radio-controlled model airplanes and helicopters. It is a chartered club of the Academy of Model Aeronautics.
