Sprayground coming to Geneva's Sunset Pool

With the 2018 Sunset Pool season over as of Monday, Geneva Park District leaders already are looking forward to 2019.

That's when a sprayground will open at the pool, 710 Western Ave.

Construction on the $522,000 project is starting this fall. It will replace the sand area and play structure on the east side of the main pool.

The sprayground will feature at least 10 pieces of equipment that shoot, spray or splash water on children.

Crossroads Construction, which installed the sprayground at the district's Mill Creek Pool, was the only bidder for the job.

"We are thrilled about this addition at Sunset Pool. The hands-on sprayground will be ADA-accessible and feature vibrant colors and fun water features that allow children to utilize all five senses during play," Nicole Vickers, recreation superintendent, said in a news release.

Sunset Pool will still have an aquatic playground, climbing walls, water cannons, waterslides, sand volleyball courts and a zero-depth area.

Pool passes go in sale in mid-February.
