Enjoy slow-roasted beef at the Grayslake Lions Steer Roast Sept. 9
The Grayslake Lions Club will serve the 55th Annual Terry Rockenbach Memorial Steer Roast on Sunday, Sept. 9, at Grayslake Middle School, 440 N. Barron Blvd., Grayslake.
Eat-in, takeout, and drive-through meal service will be available from 11 a.m. through 4 p.m.
The meal will consist of spit-roasted beef, corn on the cob, baked potato, fresh tomatoes, rolls and desert, coffee and milk. The beef is slow roasted over charcoal for over 18 hours. Soft will be available for purchase separately.
Prices are $14 for adults, $11 for seniors 62 and older, $7 for children ages 5-11, and free for children under 5. Visa and MasterCard are accepted.
Before the event, save $1 on adult and senior tickets by purchasing tickets in advance from any Lions Club member, or by calling (847) 223-5222.
New this year will be beef jerky, sold by the pound. Also for sale will be dog bones, soup bones and shredded beef. A 50/50 cash raffle will be available. Tickets are $2 each, or six for $10.
The Lions of Illinois Foundation in partnership with the Grayslake Lions Club will also offer free hearing test screening. No meal purchase is necessary for this test.
Visitors are welcome to the school from 6 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday to watch the meat being roasted.
All proceeds from the event are dedicated to sight conservation and blind activities, hearing restoration, and providing high school scholarships for the Grayslake area.
