State senator weighs in on Maine Township sexual harassment accusations
Democratic state Sen. Laura Murphy of Des Plaines is calling for state and federal officials to investigate sexual harassment accusations leveled by Maine Township Trustee Kimberly Jones against board colleague David Carrabotta. An investigation by the Ancel Glink law firm made public in August found there was no evidence Carrabotta touched Jones' buttocks on three different occasions during photo opportunities this year. "These are serious allegations and everyone involved deserves closure. We can't allow this to now be swept under the rug. We need an outside entity to take over and resolve this one way or another," said Murphy, an outspoken supporter of the #MeToo movement. Jones said she's filed complaints against Carrabotta with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Illinois Department of Human Rights. Carrabotta has declined to comment on the accusations on advice of an attorney.
