Waukegan police investigating collision that killed Beach Park man

Waukegan police are investigating a collision in which a Beach Park man in his 70s lost his life.

The crash took place about 7 p.m. Thursday at York House Road and East End Avenue.

Investigators believe a 2018 Dodge Challenger traveling west on York House Road crossed the centerline and struck a 2000 Ford Mustang headed east.

Police said the driver of the Ford was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. All three occupants of the Dodge were treated and released from a hospital.

An autopsy was scheduled to be conducted Friday on the man, whose named has not been released pending family notification, Lake County Coroner Howard Cooper said.

The driver of the Dodge, a man in his 60s, was issued a ticket for improper lane usage, police said. All three occupants of the Dodge are residents of Anchorage, Alaska.
