Elgin police arrest man after burglar alarm goes off

A Campton Hills man was arrested after a burglar alarm went off overnight in a building in Elgin, police said.

Officers responded to the alarm at about 12:15 a.m. Thursday at a business in the 1600 block of Fleetwood Drive and found Jeffrey Zaworski, 29, inside the building, police said on Facebook. Zaworski's last known address is on Clydesdale Court, police said.

Zaworski was charged with one count each of burglary, criminal damage to property and criminal trespass to a building, police said.

Zaworski's bond was set at $50,000 Thursday.

"Due to a properly registered alarm by the business, our officers were able to quickly arrive on the scene and safely apprehend Mr. Zaworski," Police Chief Ana Lalley said.

Registration of residential and business alarms is required by city ordinance. For more information visit cityofelgin.org/alarm.
