Palatine man revived by Lake County sheriff's deputies with Naloxone

A Palatine man who stopped breathing after being taken into custody early Saturday on the Chain O' Lakes was revived by sheriff's deputies using Naloxone, the Lake County sheriff's office said Saturday in a news release.

The marine unit was on patrol between Grass Lake and Lake Marie about 12:30 a.m. when deputies observed a boat commit numerous violations and initiated a traffic stop, the release said. The operator of the boat, a 29-year-old man from Palatine, was taken into custody.

While being taken back to the processing facility, the man became unconscious and stopped breathing. Deputies determined he was likely suffering an opioid overdose, and administered two doses of Naloxone. He began breathing normally and eventually regained consciousness, the release said. Antioch Rescue took the man to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he is expected to make a full recovery.

No charges have been filed but operating under the influence charges are pending, the release said. The incident remains under investigation.
