Hanover Park celebrates 60 years with a festival

With Hanover Park turning 60, the community celebrated the milestone Saturday with a day of music, food and family activities.

The village's 60th anniversary Family Fest provided entertainment and educational opportunities for festival lovers at the Hanover Park Park District Community Center & Park, 191 Walnut Ave. It included performances by the bands 7th heaven, Modern Day Romeos and Rico.

During the day on Saturday, children were enjoying the family-oriented activities that included a giant inflatable slide, a balloon artist and a magician.

"It's a good day for the kids to run around," said Larquetta Tompkins of Carol Stream. Her 5-year-old daughter, Dakota, was all smiles after getting her face painted

Hanover Park officially turns 60 on Tuesday. A series of events have been held throughout the year for the occasion, and the family fest topped off the celebrations.
