Batavia police: Search over; no threat to public

A situation involving a despondent man with a gun has been resolved and there is no threat to the public, Batavia police said Saturday evening.

Earlier Saturday, police were warning west-side residents near H.C. Storm Elementary School to stay inside during a search that started around 7:30 p.m. Police said they were looking for a white man, possibly a teenager, wearing a teal shirt.

Streets were closed near McKee Street and Van Nortwick Avenue. Police, including Kane County SWAT officers, searched the school.
