Giveaway for Prospect Heights fire victims runs through Saturday

An open giveaway of donated items for people displaced by last month's devastating fire at the River Trails Condominiums in Prospect Heights began Thursday will continue through Saturday, Aug. 4 at Lakewood Chapel, 1307 E. Palatine Road in Arlington Heights.

The set hours for all three days are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Among the donated items available are clothes, food, bedding, baby cribs and tricycles.

Chapel staff said the timing is right for such a giveaway as most of the displaced residents have found their way to more permanent shelter, including hotel rooms, and are in need of longer-term essentials.

For more information, call Lakewood Chapel at (847) 259-0700.
