Carmel Catholic names new principal

Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein has hired a new principal, officials announced Friday.

Jason Huther, who most recently served as headmaster of a school in Kentucky, will start Aug. 3.

"Mr. Huther is an exceptionally thoughtful and effective leader who brings a wealth of experience in Catholic education and administration to our community," Carmel President Dr. Bradley Bonham said in a news release.

In addition to his position at Covington Latin School in Covington, Kentucky, Huther also has been an instructor in higher education and a high school Latin teacher, according to the release. He has earned two master's degrees and is a graduate of the Mary Ann Remick Leadership Program at the University of Notre Dame.

Huther said he "cannot wait to get started."

"I felt an attraction to Carmel Catholic because of its strong sense of mission, and the availability of programs to fully develop young men and women into leaders guided by faith," he said. "The culture seems contagiously enthusiastic and supportive, and I wanted to be a part of it. I remain nothing but excited to be a part of Carmel Catholic."
