Coyote pup that survived attack last year escapes danger again
Peace the coyote pup has escaped danger once again.
The pup - who was the only member of his litter to survive an attack a year ago - was uninjured this weekend when a large oak tree toppled onto an enclosure at Flint Creek Rehabilitation Center in Barrington.
On Saturday, Peace, another coyote and other animals were in an enclosure when the tree fell at the wildlife rehabilitation facility, staff said in a Facebook post.
Staff members removed the tree, but the enclosure was destroyed, requiring the animals to be moved to a smaller cage. The rehabilitation facility was closed for intakes over the weekend but it scheduled reopen Monday.
The total damage is estimated at $6,5000.
A year ago, Peace was the only survivor after a fisherman found a burlap bag with seven 1-pound pups in Penny Pond in Barrington Hills.
