Trial date set for Kenosha man accused in ex-wife's death in Gurnee
A trial date has been set for a Kenosha man accused of killing his ex-wife during a pre-dawn fight at her Gurnee house.
Authorities say David Brocksom, 46, faces counts of first-degree murder, home invasion and robbery for barging into the house of ex-wife Beata Brocksom, in the 3700 block of Pacific Avenue, and shooting her as they fought over a gun Sept. 27, 2015.
David Brocksom remains held in Lake County jail on $3 million bail, authorities said.
Lawyers initially scheduled a trial date in February 2016. That date was delayed by attorneys until Tuesday, when Judge Mark Levitt agreed to a Nov. 5 trial date.
Brocksom is due back in court May 24 for a case management conference.
Authorities say Brocksom left his two children at a Wisconsin Dells hotel and drove to Gurnee to confront Beata J. Brocksom, 48, after the couple's 9-year-old daughter said the mother had assaulted her.
The couple argued when David Brocksom arrived at the house after 4 a.m. The confrontation escalated to a fist fight, authorities said.
Beata Brocksom pulled a gun during the fight and threatened to kill David, authorities said. They wrestled over the weapon and two shots were fired, with one hitting Beata Brocksom, authorities said.
The scuffle continued outside for a short time before Beata Brocksom died near some bushes in the back of the house, authorities said.
After the fight, David Brocksom drove to his mother's house in Kenosha, waited for a friend to pick up his children in Wisconsin, then turned himself in to police that evening.
