Supervision for Palatine man who invited youngsters to eat

A Palatine man who prosecutors say invited three children he did not know to dinner at a restaurant pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor Wednesday in a Rolling Meadows courtroom.

Alan Sundberg, 61, approached three boys playing outside an apartment building in the 200 block of South Rohlwing Road on Jan. 27, engaged in conversation and invited them to get something to eat, said Cook County assistant state's attorney Denise Loiterstein.

"These actions alarmed and disturbed the children and broke the peace," Loiterstein said.

In exchange for Sundberg's guilty plea, Cook County Judge Joseph Cataldo sentenced him to 18 months supervision and ordered him to have no contact with the youngsters.
