Iqbal wins in Kane County Board District 19 Democratic primary

Mohammad Iqbal won handily Tuesday in a three-way race for the Democratic nomination in Kane County Board District 19, unofficial vote totals show.

With all precincts reporting, Iqbal had 785 votes, John Shales received 430 votes and Thomas Gibbons had 273 votes.

 

Iqbal, 72, of Elgin, is an attorney and civil/structural engineer with extensive background in business and law. He favors reducing waste, providing higher quality public safety services, and raising taxes to upgrade infrastructure, public safety and welfare services. He is a former board member of the Gail Borden Public Library Foundation, and a former commissioner for the City of Elgin Image Advisory Commission and Elgin Human Relations Commission.
