Aurora cops probing Bilter Road crash that injured two

Police continue to investigate a head-on crash Tuesday that critically injured two Aurora men, authorities said Wednesday.

Both drivers in the two-vehicle crash are being treated for their injuries at an area hospital. Police have not released their identities.

Police said it appears a 21-year-old man was driving a 2014 Ford Explorer west on Bilter Road around 1:10 p.m. when the vehicle crossed the centerline and hit a 2006 GMC Savana headed east, driven by a 48-year-old man, just east of Wilton Lane.

Both men had to be extricated from their vehicles by Aurora firefighters. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Police said they have not yet issued any citations and it is not clear if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. Bilter Road between DuPage Parkway and I-88 was closed for several hours Tuesday while the crash was reconstructed.
