Elgin police arrest teen in connection to threat at Larkin High School

Elgin police arrested a 15-year-old in connection with a social media post threatening a shooting would occur Tuesday at Larkin High School in Elgin.

The teen was being held at the Kane County youth home and will face a detention hearing today. Police said the teen did not have access to any guns.

The threat was discovered Monday evening and police investigated through the night before making an arrest Tuesday morning.

"We are glad that the community provided the information to authorities and ask parents to remind their children the seriousness of these types of threats," Police Chief Jeff Swoboda said.
