Up to 4 inches of snow expected tonight

After a stretch of springlike weather last week, forecasters are predicting another round of snow to hit the suburbs starting this evening. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory from 4 p.m. to midnight in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake and McHenry counties. Lake in the Hills residents injured in early morning house fire

Two people were injured yesterday in an early morning fire that destroyed their Lake in the Hills home, officials said. The residence on Newbury Court was engulfed in flames when fire crews arrived about 3:45 a.m., said Battalion Chief Mike Pierce of the Huntley Fire Protection District. Home cooking for 'Iron Chef' winner in Lincolnshire

The Sedgebrook retirement community in Lincolnshire not only held its first Iron Chef Invitational yesterday, but it also had its own entry. Sedgebrook Executive Chef Kira Eggert and Sous Chef Vanna Hong pit their culinary talents against executive chefs from Eddie Merlot's and Fleming's. House fire displaces Grayslake family

A Grayslake family of five was displaced over the weekend by a house fire. A neighbor called 911 about 9:15 a.m. Saturday after noticing smoke coming from the roof of a house on the 500 block of Stuart Street, said Battalion Chief Mike Rutkowski of the Grayslake Fire Protection District. Barrington Village President Karen Darch has received a surprise honor to coincide with Women's History Month in March. Deb Edlund, regent for the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution Signal Hill chapter in Barrington, read a proclamation for the month during last week's village board meeting before announcing the organization's community service award for Darch.
