Villa Park to residents: Don't park cars on street tonight

Villa Park officials are urging residents not to park their cars on the street tonight to make it easier for snowplow drivers to do their jobs.

Public works crews are responsible for all public streets in the village except for North Avenue, Roosevelt Road and Route 83, which are maintained by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

If it snows more than 8 inches, officials said, it may only be possible to keep a center lane open on secondary streets for emergency vehicles until the snow stops.

The village also is asking residents not to blow snow into the street and to place garbage cans at least four feet behind the back of the curb.
