Fund created for Buffalo Grove firefighter's children

A memorial fund has been established to assist the four young daughters of Buffalo Grove firefighter/paramedic Kevin Hauber, who died over the weekend after a long battle with colon cancer.

The Buffalo Grove Professional Firefighters and Paramedics Association created the Kevin Hauber Memorial Trust Fund at First Midwest Bank to support the education, health and well-being of his children.

Hauber, 51, worked nearly 24 years for the Buffalo Grove Fire Department. More importantly, he was a devoted husband and loving father, according to fund organizers.

He died Saturday surrounded by his family.

Donations can be made at any First Midwest Bank branch or mailed to the Buffalo Grove Fire Department, 1051 Highland Grove Drive, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089. Checks should be written as follows, "Kevin Hauber Memorial Fund c/o BGPFFAPA".

A wake for Hauber be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Church, 50 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove.
