New director for Waukegan library

Selina Gomez-Beloz has been selected as the new executive director of the Waukegan Public Library.

Gomez-Beloz has 20 years work experience in library settings and has served since 2014 as director at Crown Point Community Library in Indiana.

She'll replace longtime executive director Richard Lee, who is retiring. Gomez-Beloz said she was attracted by Waukegan's commitment to literacy and continued community engagement. She begins Feb. 19.

Gomez-Beloz has held leadership roles with the American Library Association and other professional organizations.
