Suburban bands perform at Jazz Jamboree in Arlington Heights

Junior high and middle school bands from across the suburbs gathered in Arlington Heights Saturday to display their talents and learn from conductors during the annual Jazz Jamboree.

Thirteen bands performed throughout the day at Thomas Middle School in Arlington Heights, each getting a 30-minute clinic to receive feedback from someone other than their daily band director.

Thomas Band Director Dana Berry has organized the event for 21 years, with the goal in mind of showcasing and teaching youth music.

The bands that participated Saturday are from South Middle School in Arlington Heights, Lincoln Middle School, River Trails Middle School and St. Raymond in Mount Prospect, MacArthur Middle School in Prospect Heights, Emerson Middle School in Niles, Fremont Middle School in Mundelein, Parkland School in McHenry, Indian Trail Junior High School in Addison, Wood Dale Junior High School in Wood Dale, Blackhawk Middle School in Bensenville, Cass Junior High School in Darien and Hinsdale Middle School in Hinsdale.
