Third defendant pleads guilty in 2016 Rolling Meadows home invasion

The third of four defendants charged with a 2016 home invasion that injured a 75-year-old Rolling Meadows woman has pleaded guilty.

Justin Cortes, 22, pleaded guilty to the charge Thursday in exchange for an eight-year sentence, court records show.

The Chicago man, who had been held on $1 million bail in Cook County jail, received credit for 569 days in custody.

Co-defendants Vladimir Georges, 23, of Palatine, and Robert Cutler, 32, of Hoffman Estates, pleaded guilty to home invasion earlier this month. Georges was sentenced to 19 years in prison, and Cutler was sentenced to 12.

Charges are still pending against Sarah Wendy, 24, of Glenview.

According to prosecutors, the woman awoke about 9:25 p.m. June 28, 2016, to the sound of three men knocking at her door. As she opened the door, Georges told her they were collecting for a local church. After she refused and tried to shut the door, prosecutors say Georges grabbed her arm, pushed his way inside and demanded money while Cutler entered and proceeded toward the woman's bedroom.

After they left, the woman dialed 911 and provided a description of the intruders, whom police located minutes later in a car driven by Wendy, prosecutors said.
