Grayslake history program

The Grayslake Historical Society will host a children's program, The Treasures of the Traveling Basket, at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 13, in the Community Room of the Grayslake Heritage Center, 164 Hawley St., Grayslake. The free program will be presented by Marji Jobes, and will feature items found in the society's traveling vintage clothes basket. Items include a pea shelling tool and a fluting tool. Other items in the basket include a box camera, a carpet beater, a button hook, a darning ball and more. Children will be challenged to identify these objects. The items are from the society's educational collection and Jobes' personal collection. The basket has been presented in local schools for many years. No registration is required.
