@HanoverParkVlg reveals new logo, readies for 60th anniversary in 2018

Hanover Park has revealed its new logo — a stylized multicolored globe — to symbolize the village's harmonious diversity as it prepares to celebrate its 60th anniversary throughout 2018.

And in keeping with the new logo, Village President Rod Craig said the coming anniversary will be especially forward-looking as Hanover Park begins the march toward its 75th.

The logo and its tagline, “America's Global Village,” are the product of nearly a year's work and are meant to reflect the 80 nationalities and 30 spoken languages of Hanover Park's 38,000 residents, Craig said.

“We did a lot of interviews in the community because it is a reflection of our hometown,” he said of the finished product. “When you look at our country, we are a reflection of what's going on across the country. We are not afraid of our global view. We are proud that many people come here from around the world to start families and model the right stuff in our hometown.”

Though 2017 began with new President Donald Trump promising a tougher stance on immigration and immigrants, Craig said Hanover Park has evolved into a successful model of how the American dream can work in the 21st century. A staunch Republican, Craig said he saw so many moderates leaving public office as one of the more unfortunate aspects of 2017.

“We have to be independent in our views,” he said. “People of this community really embrace what we're doing.”

Most of the 60th anniversary celebrations are still being finalized, but the majority will be focused in different areas of Hanover Park rather than being villagewide, Craig said. But one major exception will be a showcase of the police department in August.

The new logo will be immediately included on all village correspondence and notices, including an upgrade of the Hanover Park website scheduled to launch in late February.

The old logo, a “people tree” depicting a branching-out of stacked stick figures, will be superseded in 2018 but won't entirely disappear as a nod to the village's past.
