Buffalo Grove village trustees this month approved an agreement with BA Lighting to replace 118 streetlights with LED fixtures.

ComEd is providing incentive funding that will defray nearly half the $55,000 cost. ComEd will rebate $25,000, based on wattage reduction.

The lighting has a projected 20-year life span, according to the village, compared to the three-year life of the lights currently in use. Officials say the savings of replacing the lights less often should easily surpass the cost of installing the LEDs.
