Homecoming: Elmhurst tree-lighting familiar scene for Santa

Have you ever visited someplace that instinctively felt like home?

A place where everything seemed familiar, even if it was all new to you?

That's how Santa was feeling Thursday night when he stopped by for a tree-lighting ceremony in Elmhurst's Wilder Park.

There was the reindeer, of course. And the hot chocolate and cookies. And the candy cane hunt. And people joining in to sing Christmas carols and other holiday songs. There were performances by the Hawthone Children's Choir and the St. Peter's United Church Children's Choir.

And then, of course, there was the tree lighting.

Bottom line, Santa easily could have thought he was back at the North Pole.

Which was just the way organizers wanted it.
