Expect road closures Sunday for Naperville half marathon, 5K

Roughly 4,500 runners with training behind them, goals ahead of them and volunteers supporting them will toe the starting line Sunday morning in Naperville.

Running either a half marathon or a 5K in the fifth annual Healthy Driven race sponsored by Edward-Elmhurst Health, these athletes - and average Janes or Joes - will take what Race Director Dave Sheble calls "a running tour of Naperville."

The race starts at 7 a.m. on Eagle Street just north of Aurora Avenue, adjacent the Naperville municipal center.

Runners will travel east and south along subdivision streets, cross the DuPage River near 75th Street, continue west until West Street and head north to finish where they started.

Road closures, detours and parking restrictions, which are listed at https://www.naperville.il.us/globalassets/media/event-maps-and-tcps/2017-naperville-half-marathon-and-5k-traffic-control-plan-2.pdf, are expected to be lifted by noon, if not earlier.

Runners in search of a spur-of-the-moment challenge can register on race morning from 5:30 to 6:45 a.m. Race day prices are $105 for the half marathon with a shirt and $95 without a shirt, or $50 for the 5K with a hoodie and $35 without a hoodie.
