Time to celebrate Independence Day in Lake County

Tuesday, July 4, is Independence Day. Here are some of the events villages in and around Lake County have planned to celebrate the birthday of the United States of America.

Festivals

• Antioch Fourth of July: 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Williams Park, 741 Main St. 5K Run for Freedom & Fun Walk at 8 a.m. Fourth of July parade steps off at 10:30 a.m. from Antioch High School. Family Fun Fair at noon at Williams Park. Food/drink vendors open all day at the park. Live music at 3 p.m. by EZFM, Mellencougar and headliner Libido Funk Circus. • Barrington Fourth of July Fest: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the tent in the Metra north commuter lot, downtown Barrington. • Island Lake Fourth of July celebration: 10 a.m. parade starts on Burnett Road, between Darrell and River roads, followed by a picnic at Veterans Park, 432 W. State Road, with pony rides, music, crafts, games, food and fun. Free. www.villageofislandlake.com.

• Lake Zurich Family Day: 10 a.m. to end of fireworks, Henry J. Paulus Park, 200 S. Rand Road. Music, entertainment, kids' games, inflatable rides, swimming. • Lincolnshire Red, White & Boom: 8 a.m. until fireworks end at Spring Lake Park, 49 Oxford Drive, Lincolnshire. Features rides, food, and live performances. Includes a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m., 5K race at 8 a.m., parade at 11 a.m., cardboard boat regatta at 2:30 p.m., a concert by Dixie Crush at 7:30 p.m., and fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Free. lincolnshireil.gov.

• Naval Station Great Lakes: 3-10 p.m. Naval Station Great Lakes, 530 Farragut Ave B, Great Lakes. Feature a main stage with bands including Bella Cain and the Navy Band Great Lakes' Ceremonial Band. There also will be carnival rides, games, beer and food, and fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Visitors can also see Navy vehicles and other equipment, as well as military displays. • Palatine Hometown Fest: 1-5 p.m. Community Park, 262 E. Palatine Road, Palatine. Entertainment, food vendors, parade, carnival, business expo and craft fair, and many other activities. Parade at 11 a.m. Free. palatinejaycees.org

• Antioch Fourth of July Parade: 10:30 a.m. Steps off from Antioch Community High School, 1133 Main St., proceeds north on Main to Poplar Avenue. Theme: "Decades of Antioch." antioch.il.gov.

• Barrington Fourth of July Parade: 10 a.m. Steps off from Barrington High School's west parking lot, 616 W. Main, proceeds east on Main and ends at Metra north commuter lot, via Wool Street. Theme: "Celebrating America's Superheroes." barringtonparade.com.

• Deerfield Family Days Parade: Noon. New route this year starts at Deerspring Pool, 200 Deerfield Road, west on Deerfield, north on Waukegan Road, turns west onto Hazel and end on Park Avenue. Theme: "Small Town, Big Heart." Bike parade at 9 a.m. Tuesday from Rosemary Terrace and Deerfield Road and ends at Jewett Park. www.deerfield.il.us/familydays.

• Hawthorn Woods Parade: 10 a.m. Celebrate America with a march through town ending with a flag-raising ceremony at the Hawthorn Woods village hall, 2 Lagoon Drive. Parade starts at Falkirk and Carlisle, continues on Lagoon Drive, and ends at the village hall. Free. www.vhw.org.

• Highland Park Fourth of July Parade: 10 a.m. Steps off at Laurel and St. Johns avenues, then one block north to Central Avenue, heads west to Sunset Woods Park, 1801 Sunset Road. • Lincolnshire Red, White & Boom Parade: 11 a.m. Steps off from Laura Sprague Elementary School, 2425 Riverwoods Road, east on Kings Cross Drive, south on Brunswick Lane, west on Dukes Lane, north on Berkshire Lane, to Portshire Drive and Buckingham Place, north on Riverside Road, west on Yorkshire Drive to Oxford Drive to Spring Lake Park. • Vernon Hills Fourth of July Parade: 9 a.m. Steps off at Deerpath and Atrium Drive, just south of Route 60.
