Let the summer begin

The Wheeling Park District Aquatic Center opens for the summer at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 5.

The outdoor family playland is home to mascot "Willie the Whale" and features the Tsunami Splash water playground with large tipping bucket, Lily Pad Lagoon splash pool with water basketball and monkey bar activity pad, and Aloha Beach zero-depth entry main pool. The center also has tube and body slides, two drop slides, a sand play area, sand volleyball, toddler slide, lap lanes, diving board, grassy tanning area and a picnic area

Weekend hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and weekdays 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Post-season hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, August 21, and Sunday, August 20; Saturday, August 28, and Sunday, August 29, and Saturday, September 4, through Monday, September 6.

Admission with a resident ID card is $9.75 per person and $8.25 for kids ages 3 to 9 years old, and $7.25 for seniors 62 years and older. Non residents pay $12.75 person and $11.25 for kids ages 3 to 9 years old and $8.75 for seniors 62 years and older. Children 35 months and younger are free.

Aquatic memberships also are available for both residents and non-residents. The aquatic center is located at 327 W. Dundee Road. For information, call (847) 465-3333.
