Fundraiser to help homeless on tap at Durty Nellie's

A fun way to help out the homeless is on tap again this year in Palatine.

The third annual Sinatra and Pasta, a fundraiser and food drive to benefit Journeys from PADS to HOPE, will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, in the Durty Nellie's Band Room, 180 N. Smith St. in downtown Palatine.

Admission is $10 and open to the public. Those attending are asked to bring two nonperishable food items for Journeys' pantry. The pantry is in need of canned tomatoes, tomato sauce & pasta, spaghetti sauce, instant mashed potatoes, crackers, muffin mix, jelly, tuna, cereal, rice, macaroni & cheese, tuna/hamburger helper, dry soup, peanut butter and canned fruit. Condiments and plastic are also welcome.

"In the current economy, more and more people are in need of Journeys food pantry," said event coordinator Liz Noe. "I'm excited to be part of this effort to fill their pantry for the winter."

The evening includes a pasta dinner buffet, raffle prizes, and a Tribute to Ol' Blue Eyes by performer Sam Magdal. Tickets can be purchased at the door. Call (847) 217-1845.
