Arts reception planned at Mint Julep Bistro

If you haven't had a chance to check out the Mint Julep Bistro, one of the newest eateries in downtown Palatine, mark Saturday, Dec. 6, on your calendar.

That is when the restaurant will host the Palatine/Inverness Arts Council's "First Saturday" art reception. The reception will be from 2-4 p.m. at the Mint Julep Bistro, 53 W. Slade St.

The council's first art reception of the 2008-09 season featured photography by Palatine resident Carl Jalowiec and was held Saturday, Nov. 1, at Lamplighter Inn, 60 N. Brockway. Jalowiec's work will be on display for the month of November.

"The Arts Council is excited to launch our third season of First Saturdays," said Betty Flamm, Arts Council president. "The positive support from community businesses and artists has been encouraging."

The "First Saturday" program is designed to highlight different local artists each month by rotating works throughout various businesses. Admission to the exhibit is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided at the art reception.

Artists interested in displaying their work, or businesses interested in hosting a reception are encouraged to call (847) 943-6451 or visit PalatineInvernessArts.org for more information.
