Dove Park needs your votes to be a 'Dream Park'

The Palatine Park District would like residents to vote often this fall.

No, not in the Nov 4 election.

The park district has the possibility of winning a $25,000 park makeover for Dove Park, 1802 Green Lane South in Palatine through the Staples Dream Park Challenge.

Residents can vote once a day at www.StaplesDreamPark.com/Bears. You also can visit the local Staples store to puck pu a free "power" card to make your online vote count 10 extra times. The online voting goes through Nov. 17.

On the stage: One of Palatine's resident playwrights/composers, David Reiser, will have four of his songs featured in a London music revue this fall.

The production company, A Stage Kindly, will present the revue at the Battersea Barge (a restaurant/theater permanently moored in the Thames) Saturday, Oct. 26, and at the Rosemary Branch Theatre Friday, Nov. 7.

In addition, Reiser's musical, "Molineaux," will have a staged reading in New York City, this fall, with a tentative date of Monday, Nov. 10.

At the theater: Theatre Nebula presents "Lost In Yonkers" by Neil Simon at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, and Saturdays, Oct. 11 and 18; and at 3 p.m. Sundays, Oct. 12 and 19 at Cutting Hall, 150 E. Wood St., Palatine.

Tickets cost $14 in advance and $15 at the door for adults; $12 in advance and $13 at the door for seniors, students and children.

The show is directed by J. Spencer Greene and features Justin Brauer, Adam Brauer, Tom Akouris, Jennifer Goode, Sue Mrotek, Bradley Davidow and Laura Strojny.

Halloween's coming: The Salt Creek Rural Park District is offering a Halloween Party on Thursday, Oct. 30, for children 10 and under at Hat Trick Hockey, 647 Consumers Ave. in Palatine. Two times are offered: 5-5:45 p.m. and 5:45-6:30 p.m.

There will be face painting, games with prizes, a coloring station, a fun maze and more. Cost is $6 for nonresidents and $4 for residents. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Adults enter for free. Preregistration is required. Bring a bag/bucket for prizes. Call (847) 259-6890 for more information.

Food drive: Three Palatine businesses, Cornerstone National Bank & Trust Company, Palatine Oil Co. and Von Sydow's Moving and Storage, recently teamed up to restock food pantry shelves in Palatine on behalf of the Northwest Suburban United Way and the Live United Community Food Drive.

The bank's employees and customers, as well as employees from Palatine Oil Company, collected over 26 cartons of food and other items for distribution to Palatine Township and Journeys from PADS to Hope. Von Sydow's Moving & Storage donated the moving cartons and picked up and delivered the donations to the township and PADS.
