Tour of Elk Grove starts today

The big three-day race starts today at 5:30 p.m. with the time trials. At 5 p.m., there will be a charity ride that benefits the Elk Grove Village Soldier Memorial Fund.

First lady's luncheon: Des Plaines' Jean Arredia will hold what's likely to be her final luncheon as first lady.
With term limits, Mayor Tony Arredia must leave office next spring.
Mrs. Arredia will host her annual event from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at Cafe La Cave, 2777 Mannheim Road.
An interior designer will speak about design.

Sister Fest: Sister Fest returns with fun for the whole family on Aug. 9.
From 11 a.m.-10 p.m., the fest and benefit for the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth will be held on the Maryville Academy grounds, River and Central roads.
Last dance: One last Pavilion Gazebo concert will be held Sunday.
Déjà Vu, playing music from every era, performs at 7 p.m.
The Pavilion Gazebo is located at 1000 Wellington Avenue in Elk Grove Village.
In case of rain, it will be held inside the Pavilion.
