In need of a used BMW? Look no further

There is still time to pick up some great bargains at this weekend's Annie's Attic garage sale.

This year's 16th annual sale at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Barrington is offering everything from small antiques and toys to furniture, bicycles and even a 2003 BMW.

Volunteer Kate Hauk said donations have been rolling in over the past week and half.

"We are very pleased (with the donations," she said. "We are very much looking forward to a successful sale."

A highlight of the sale each year, Hauk said, are the unique items that are up for grabs.

This year a paddle boat, go-kart, a pre-World War II German Christmas ornament and a vintage pill box hat signed by Liberace.

"We have lots of other vintage and collectible things," Hauk said.

The sale, which kicked off Thursday, runs from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

A nice aspect of this year's event, Hauk said, is that the international product safety company Underwriters Laboratories has agreed to buy clothing and household goods from the sale and donate them to flood victims in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Since the money raised supports local families through Project Hope, Hauk said many of the donated items will now have twice the impact.

"A lot of people were really excited to hear that the items they are donating will have a twofold impact," she said.
