Emmett's Ale House in Palatine is kicking off St. Patrick's Day events this weekend. At noon Saturday, there will be a ceremonial tapping of the first keg of Emmett's Rafferty Irish Red Ale. It will be hoisted on to the bar and Mayor Rita Mullins will tap it.

The Rafferty Irish Red Ale along with Irish Dry Stout and several other Emmett's handcrafted beers will be on tap and bagpipe music will be playing all day. The Irish singing group, Kingsfold, with Breda and Fergal King, will provide Irish music from noon to 3 p.m. There is no cover charge. The restaurant is at 110 N. Brockway St., Go to www.emmettstavern.com.
