Tiger Sharks to host trials for 2009 Deaflympics

The USA Deaf Sports Federation has announced that the Palatine swim team, the Tiger Sharks, will be the host of the National Team Trials for the 2009 Deaflympic Games.

The games will be held in September 2009 in Taipei, Taiwan.

Trials will be at the same time as the local team's annual Summer Splash in July at the Birchwood Aquatic Complex, 435 W. Illinois Ave.

The new eight-lane, 50-meter competition pool at Birchwood, combined with the team's strong reputation, won them the honor.
