Patriots vs. Highland Park: The Stevenson Patriots' chase for the regular season Metro North junior varsity hockey Championship continued Jan. 12 in a home game against the Highland Park Giants. Stevenson prevailed 6-0 and awaited the outcome of Glenbrook North's weekend games. Stevenson trailed North by one game. North was undefeated going into the weekend while Stevenson had one conference loss to North early in the season and tying North at home.
Stevenson took the lead against Highland Park late in the first period despite outstanding goaltending by Highland Park. With a minute to play in the period, Kollin Fairbanks fought through several defenders and got the puck to Justin Krupp, who converted with a wrist shot in front and just over the goalie's left shoulder. The Patriots scored three more times in the first seven minutes of the second period for a 4-0 lead. Marc Weiner scored on a goal mouth scramble after a hit from Nick Fasano. Myles Lobus continued his scoring streak by backhanding the puck into the net. Tyler St. Martin's quick shot after a pass from behind the net by Jake Gould finished the second period scoring. Stevenson added two third-period goals by Fairbanks and Ricky Razdolsky for the final 6-0 score.
