Cops: 1 dead in Brookfield robbery
Authorities say the owner of a Brookfield liquor store was killed during an armed robbery.
The Cook County medical examiner's office says 38-year-old Bashar Fakhouri died of a gunshot wound to the head. The Alsip man's death is considered a homicide.
Police were called to Phoenix Liquors in Brookfield around 10:30 p.m. on Friday. Brookfield Police Chief Steven Stelter says officers found the employee who had been shot at the scene.
He was pronounced dead just before 11 p.m. at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.
Stelter says a weapon was recovered from the scene.
Witnesses told police two men fled from the scene. No one was in custody on Saturday.
