Huntley High school has 35 state scholars

Students at Huntley High School have earned state and national recognition.

State scholars

Thirty-five students from Huntley High School's Class of 2008 have been recognized as Illinois State Scholars. The 35 seniors are among the 18,000 high-schoolers statewide who rank in the top ten percent of Illinois' high school seniors.

Huntley's 2008 state scholars are: Gretchen Bachrodt, Matthew Bakke, Dana Barnes, Rene Bayley, Joel Borhart, Shanon Butler, Priyanvada Deshpande, Melissa Dinh, Justin Engle, Mary Evert, Michael Fuelling, Stephanie Koerner, Kyle Koniewicz, Christina Krawczak, Zachary Lilly, James McDuffee, Danial Miller, Tiffany Palermo, Brittany Palmer, Sarah Quirk, Shaana Rajan, Samreena Rasheed, Samantha Rawson, Derek Reinhold, Amy Rhine, Andrew Rosenwinkel, Jessica Runge, Olivia Schmidt, Matt Soling, Ashley Spring, Jacob Tlapek, Jacob Walker, Robert Wascher, Amber Yound and Alexander Zielinski.

AP honors

Twenty-seven Huntley High School students have been named AP scholars for scoring high marks on at least three advanced placement exams. Jacob Walker was named a National AP Scholar after scoring a 5 -- the top grade -- on 13 AP exams.

Six students were named AP Scholars with Distinction: Shannon Butler, Brandon Covganka, Jinjiao Jiang, Jacob Sanches, Jacob Walker and Mark Zielinski.

Four students were named AP Scholars with Honor: Liliana Castillo, Priyandvada Deshpande, Samreena Rasheed and Jessica Runge.

Seventeen students were named AP Scholars: Martin Gannon, Ryan Hollister, Kyle Kane, Tanya Marics, Andrew Moore, Carl Niemann, James Opolony, Sahana Rajan, Amy Rhine, Stephanie Ross, Nichole Smith, Michael Stanis, Sarah Starling, Richard Tarczynski, James Theologes, Robert Wascher and Alexander Zielinski.
