Emmett's is returning to Palatine

Palatine officials unanimously approved a plan Monday night to bring Emmett's restaurant back to the downtown scene.

At a village council meeting, councilmen voted to allow the restaurant to come back to its original location, at 110 N. Brockway St. It will now be called Emmett's Ale House and will feature a similar menu to what used to be there.

The tavern and eatery will be run by the Burns family, which operates three other locations. Emmett's was in the Brockway location from February 2005 through May 2006. After Emmett's left, the Brockway Chophouse moved in and has since closed.

Councilmen also voted to give the restaurant $40,000 in tax increment finance assistance for renovations to the building. A liquor license was also approved. The restaurant should be open by mid-December.
