Debbie Macomber visits Elgin to discuss latest book

At her only book signing in Illinois, best-selling author Debbie Macomber will stop by Books at Sunset in Elgin at 7 p.m. today.

In her first non-fiction book, "Knit Together: Discover God's Pattern for Your Life," Macomber offers a spiritual roadmap.

When not writing, the author enjoys spending time with her eight grandchildren, and knitting. She serves on the advisory board of Guideposts magazine and on the national board of the charity organization Warm Up, America! Her most popular books to date are those in her Blossom Street series, about women knit and find inner strength, independence and self-realization. Her most recent achievement is throwing out the first pitch in the July 26 Seattle Mariners game at Safeco Field.

If you're a fan of Macomber's more than 100 women's fiction titles, or are simply curious, enjoy the Summertime Tea with Debbie by calling to R.S.V.P. at (847) 888-1860. Reservations are $1 and include iced tea and cookies. The book store is at 1100 South St. in Elgin.
