Maine West High School in Des Plaines will honor U.S. military veterans during Friday's varsity football game.
The Maine West Warriors are scheduled to play the Schaumburg High Saxons. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
Veterans can get free admission to the game by entering through the north gate. They'll be treated to a free hot dog or hamburger, chips and a drink.

Additionally, veterans are invited to gather at the north end of the stadium by 6:15 p.m. for a public recognition by Maine West players, cheerleaders and fans.
The celebration has become an annual tradition at Maine West, held each September to coincide with the anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Maine Township High School District 207 spokesman Brett Clark said.
According to a news release: "Maine West hopes to see all the area veterans in attendance, and looks forward to thanking the veterans for their service to our country."
For anyone who isn't a military veteran, tickets for the game are $5 for adults or $2 for students, children and seniors.
Advance tickets are available online at gofan.co/event/1116578?schoolId=IL15571.
