Des Plaines school's upcoming craft fair to showcase local artists

Organizers of an upcoming craft fair at a Des Plaines school are seeking artists and other vendors to sell their wares.

The event is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 15 in the gym at Orchard Place Elementary School, 2727 Maple St. Homemade crafts, jewelry and other items will be for sale.

Six-foot vendor tables cost $35 each to rent and eight-foot tables cost $45 each. A limited number of eight-foot tables are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

If you're interested in exhibiting at the craft fair, email Cathy Smith at smithcat@d62.org by April 7.

Proceeds from the table rentals and a planned raffle will benefit the school.

Admission is $2 per person; free for kids younger than 10.

Des Plaines School District 62 officials are excited about the annual fair.

"It's a wonderful opportunity for one of our schools to open its doors to our community as we showcase some of the great talent from our local crafters and vendors," spokeswoman Jennifer Tempest Bova said.
