Fremd woodworking students bring holiday spirit to Palatine

Palatine leaders recognized and thanked the Fremd High School woodworking class Monday for their work designing and constructing the winter gift boxes and snowmen on display for the holidays at a pair of well-traveled locations in town.

Students designed and built the items over three weeks.

"The students love to see their creations displayed around town and think it's really cool that, years from now, their kids will get to see what they made, too," teacher Paul Hardy said.

This is the fifth time the village and Hardy's classes have partnered on projects that improve Palatine's appearance.

In previous years, students made the flower cart at the downtown train station, the big wagon used for fall decorations, and the Santa sleigh in Towne Square Park.

Both sides expect the partnership to continue for years to come.

The gift boxes and snowmen can be found at Palatine Road and Northwest Highway, and Northwest Highway and North Hicks Road (Volunteer Plaza).
